AC 185 3-point hitch won't go down

On my AC 185 the 3-point hitch goes up whenever I start the tractor. It will not go down no matter how I move the lever or where I set the traction or depth levers. I changed the hydraulic oil and filter. This tractor had been in storage for about 6 years but everything else seems to be functioning OK including the power steering and other hydraulic hook ups. I even disconnected the up_down control lever and removed the valve for it from the valve body but everything looked OK. There seems to be pressure bleeding into the 3-point circuit from somewhere and the hitch will only go down very slowly after the tractor is shut off.
Anybody see this problem before or have any idea what to try next??

if there is no wieght on it it might not go down ,i think mine does same thing u have to stand on it before it will go down,i know mines good tractor has less than 2000 original hrs
The same goes for our old 180. I used to stand on the arms and reach in to push the lever forward. Our 170 would drop by itself.
Thanks for the replies but I took the tractor to a mechanic who found that the traction booster spindle was stuck and not allowing the lift arms to go down. Problem solved.
How did your mechanic fix your traction booster spindle I have a 185 AC and it does the same thing when you start the tractor the lift goes up and will not go back down until you kill the tractor
You may not get an answer as this thread is nearly 10 yrs old and the OP hasn't been on the forum since. The two posts in this thread were the only ones he made on the forum.
