another way to start your tractor , leave it to the mfg's to make something rugged simple and reliable ,in this case British I m sure they are not the only one using this system , there are several more simular clips on Youtube.

Those are pretty cool! I take it they are all 2 stroke single cylinder diesels? It took me a minute to understand the funny looking exhaust but then realized they were expansion chambers. Just like on my old 2 stroke street bikes. They control the intake timing with the exhaust charge. One heck of a glow plug. Just heat the head up till it's hot enough to fire the charge. I'll bet a couple of them were only turning about 200 rpm idling.
