Having trouble. Just sold our 41 9N. We never used the pto for the pto. Only had it on to run the 3 point. Since we used that alot, we put a cap over the pto and left it in the on position. Now the guy who bought it is running a finish mower and need to shut it off. The lever won't move to the off position. Any idea's? Just trying to help him out.

Could be rusted in the on position..Slight tap might help. Block clutch pedal down. (Careful lever is cast!) Removal of the plate, with the lever, might also help.

Enjoy all of the many Forums here on MTF..:goodl:

In fasct.. if moderate pressure onthe lever didn't help.. I'd pull the cover and check out the sliding splined coupler... hard to imagine it has had a lack of lube since there is alot of splash inthere.. but you never know.. then again.. lever might have froze up into the cover as well..

lotsa stuff can happen in 50ys..

Just found out that the lever is stuck forward with the pto engaged????
Must have got bumped while running??? He's going to take the cover off and check it out when he can.
Thanx for all the help.

If the lever is stuck in the forward position... yet the PTO is still engaged...

It sounds to me like the forks are off of the engagement sleeve (I'm probably messing up the terminology here, but....)
Have to agree, should be EASY to see what is going on once the side cover is removed.
