Hi--
Yes, I'm a newbie and have one working 848 and one 848 that had a blown transaxle (there is a hole in the bottom). This is the 7 speed variable pully design and the previous owner said he was 'stupid' and ran the transaxle dry and managed to blow it.
I can't seem to find a service manual to tell me how to check lube in the working tractor. I found in the owners guide that it takes 20oz of some "Plastilube" grease... but can't find a place to check it. I'd rather not pull my first 'stupid' move in the first week of owner ship and have two blown transaxles.
I did some forum searches, but no luck. If there is a shortcut to make sure the tranaxle has lube, I'm all ears. :i_praying:
Thanks,
Ron
