I purchased a Simplicity 738 with a blown B&S engine. I have a spare 8HP B&S from a older snapper rider. The snapper B&S engine doesn't have a starter.

I believe it is possible to physically put the snapper B&S engine on the simplicity 738 and use the pull starter, but I would like to transfer the starter in the snapper engine. What would I need to consider? Any Suggestions or recommendations are welcome.

Original 738 Engine: 196707-0144-01 (Blown)
Replacement Engine: 190702-1188-01 (Off Snapper)

You should be able to put the engine from the snapper into the simplicity without much problem providing the crankshaft is the same diameter and length.

Where you may run into problems is with vibration. A quick look at the model numbers you posted, I think that you have one engine that is synchro balanced, and the other that is not.

You should be able to transfer the electrical starter over too. You will need to transfer the starter, flywheel, alternator from the non electric start engine.
