Hi, I am curious as to what oil is being used in the hydro transmissions. I read that people are saying transmission oil, some say motor oil, and some say hydraulic oil. I am wondering what people here are using when changing their hydro oil, and if there are any tricks I may need to know, as I am about to tackle this job. Thanks in advance, Steve

I run ATF in mine, also in the wood splitter. Motor oil would be ok in a manual which is typically not ran under high pressures.

The difference from hydro oil, ATF, power steering fluid is pretty much that is friction properties. Among color and additives for curtain jobs. Some are less prone to foam.
