Pittsburg State University

Greetings Fellow Gorillas!

As many of you may have heard or seen on our website, nearly 200 of our students and faculty got the opportunity of a lifetime last October when they chipped in to help ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" film their 200th and final episode in Joplin, Mo. (Check out this video on our YouTube site.) The show selected seven families to receive new homes - a massive build that took place in just one week. Obviously, they needed a LOT of hands on deck, and our students were there around the clock to help.

This exciting show will air Friday, January 13 at 7 p.m. CST on ABC, and we hope you will tune in to watch! If you're in the Pittsburg/Joplin region, the local ABC affiliate, KODE-TV will broadcast a special one-hour episode (at 6 p.m. CST) just before the national show that takes a closer look at PSU's role in the build. Students from several areas of campus (nursing, interior design) were able to join the more than 13,000 volunteers, but our College of Technology students - especially those in the Department of Construction Management and Construction Engineering Technologies - were crucial to the success of this project. Our students took the reins in several key areas and walked away with incredible experiences.

Go to the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" website for more information or check out our Press and Media Center to read and watch stories from the experience (search 2011 archives).

Happy New Year and thank you for your continued support of our students at PSU!
