My local dealer has one, no mower deck, runs and drives great, and wants $500 is that a good deal, it needs paint and a tune up (I will do the tune up and paint it) Can you get a 3pt hitch for these?? it looks awsome!!

Depending on your ser# Before SER 719,999 it took a IH 3point Hitch which is not a Cat 0 3point hitch Which you would then Put a brinly Sleeve hitch Adapter on. After Ser# 719,999 it could take a Cat 0 3point hitch with spring assist.

IH 3point and Brinly Hitch

Cat 0 3point with spring assist

MTD parts number for Cat 0 3point with spring aaasist:
190-388 for ser# 821,101 and Below
190-389 for ser# 821,101 and Above & you would need 190-309 manual lift assist

IH cub Cadet 3point hitch:
MTD part Number 190-381
Brinly adapter
MTD part Number 190-386

http://ihccw.com/IMG_2615_10.JPG for a 682 about $300 used through link below
http://ihccw.com/sleevehitch.html

You can still get the IH cub Cadet 3point through MTD

I hope this Helps on your 3point questions :thThumbsU

TractorData.Com lists the 682 as having the infamous Kohler KT17, I would check to be sure it has full pressure lube.

Series I, not so good, Series II, OK. Just do a Google search for Kohler KT17 and read up on it.

If wanted to you could put the Cat 0 hitch on it no matter what the serial number is. Eventually if you upgrade the motor you could even put in a Mag18 you'd just need to modify the wiring. Very easy change.

I thought 682 where 3 speed versions of the 782 which was a Hydro. I think the 582, 682, 782, and maybe even the 982 shared the same body/'frame. The 582 being the 16hp Briggs twin, geared, the 682 Kohler KT17 geared, the 782 Kohler KT17 Hydro, 982 Onan 20hp Hydro, can anyone confirm this?
