I've put together the parts to reinstall the power steering components and need to tackle the the box now. The wheel has @4" play to either side and the shaft moves up/down as you rotate it. I would guess the thrust bearings are shot, what else do I need to be concerned with? I've looked at most of the part sites and the parts usually state for manual only. Where can I find the correct bearings and seals? Thanks

Steering wheel raising and lowering when turning definitely sounds like thrust bearings. Here is a link to the parts drawing for the power steering gear box:

I was going to recommend rebuilding the control valve in addition to replacing the upper and lower thrust bearings if you're going to have it all apart anyway, but I can't seem to find the rebuild kit for that control valve anywhere, although tat doesn't necessarily mean that one's not available, just that I might be searching incorrectly. Searching the internet for tractor parts is as much as an art as it is a science.

That was my thought, if it's all apart might as well do everything. I don't want to get it all together and find out the control valve leaks. I'm having the same problem with internet searching, I can find the new valve, but no seals or parts. Thanks for the response.

I didn't have too much luck finding all the seals/bearings, but did locate a complete reman steering box. A bit more than I was hoping to spend, but Do it right/Do it once usually works out in the end. Once I get everything installed I'll need to fab the box to cylinder lines. I can't seem to find a diagram that shows location from the box to inner/outer on the cylinder. Does anyone have pictures or a diagram? Thanks
