I'm seriously thinking about buying this tractor but it is 8 hours away. I would hate to get out there to find out it is not worth buying. I talked to the guy selling it and it is a 93 model (PIN 14173958). He is apparently selling it for the wife of a friend who recently passed away which explains why he is advertising the finish mower as a bush hog. Well folks, should I make the trip with crossed fingers and hope to find a good tractor or should I wait until the next one comes along? I've been wanting one of these for quite a while.

You may wait a long time, I'd go get it. The chipper will look nice behind it!

Indeed, I too think I will be in for a long wait if I pass this up. The chipper would look good behind the 6018. Speaking of chipper, thanks to Brian H I finally have all the hardware I need to use the chipper with my 4020. I hope to get it all installed this weekend and fire that beauty up.

This one has been out there for a while. I think it is a 92 -
Ingersoll 6018 Compact tractor
with loader, 18hp Onan gas,
Hydraulic drive, power steering,
Cat 0 3 point hitch, 545 hours,
rear wheel weights $4250.00

There is a member on the CGT group on yahoo, Ray Wilson, who lives in KC and would likely be willing to take a look at this tractor for you. There is also a member who hauls around the country from Indiana and could probably pick it up and bring it to Indiana for a pretty reasonable price.

It sure would be nice to have someone local to look at it.

Do you know his member name? I searched the group members for Ray Wilson, Ray and Wilson and did not find a member name that matched. I supposed I could post a message to him in the forum.

Looks like I've found myself a loader tractor!

Bart, thank you for referring me to Ray. He took a look at the tractor today and gave me a good report.

Now I can't wait to get out the there and pick it up next Saturday.

Everybody is right about the Case/Ingersoll addiction. I got my first tractor last August (90 Ingersoll 4020) and bought a 85 448 a couple of months ago and now I'm adding the 6018 to my growing brood. Now all I gotta do is convince the better half of the need to keep all three.

If it's as nice as it looks in the photos I think you'll be very pleased. If you can't wait until Saturday contact my friend Sam and he can probably have it in your driveway before Wednesday for a very reasonable price--maybe less than the cost for you to drive roundtrip. Of course I hear Kansas City is nice this time of year so maybe you'll enjoy the visit.

If I can send the money via inter-bank transfer I will contact Sam. However, if Ray buys a Sears Suburban here in Indiana I promised I would deliver it to him. Since I'm a road warrior I don't mind making the trip and more importantly I owe Ray for taking the time to drive there and check the tractor out for me.

Again, I really appreciate what you've done for me.

Allen,

Sam may be able to do the haul both ways and may be able to handle the payment for you--I think it's worth a phone call to him to discuss what you want to accomplish. I sent you a PM with his number. It doesn't make any difference to me because I'm still waiting for my commission check on the last several referrals.:banghead3

6018 Situation Report

Made the trip to Blue Springs, MO Saturday evening with one of my best buds, picked up the 6018 early Sunday morning, baled back to Indiana grinning from ear to ear.

Tractor Condition:
Overall the tractor appears to be in good shape. Aside from being very dirty, it runs well, has plenty of power and the hydraulics work as expected. The paint is in decent shape with minimal rust in some places and the sheet metal is not all beat up. The finish mower runs quietly and cuts very well. The bucket is in great shape too.

Problems Identified:
Two leaky hoses, one on the right bucket arm, one on the finish mower and it was not charging the battery. As expected, all other rubber hoses were hardening and cracked. The hour meter does not work.

Progress Made So Far:
Replaced all the rubber hoses and tested hydraulic system for leaks. Fixed the charging problem by replacing the rectifier. Did a thorough cleaning.

Next Steps:
Change all fluids, filters and grease it well. Inspect/pack wheel bearings and check front-end for play/wear. Replace the hour meter. Clean, and then clean some more. Put it to work to see if any other problems crop up. Inspect the mower deck, spindles, belt and service it.

Many thanks to Bart, Sam and especially to Ray for taking the time to give the tractor a thorough inspection before I made the long trek. I owe you guys big time!
