If I recall correctly, while coaching my daughter's softball team 25 years ago: I watched an Amish farmer with two 4 horse teams plow a field with a 6 bottom plow. One team down and back, switch them out and the next team took it down and back. Took him 4 innings to plow a 10 acre plot. He was faster than I was at 8 yrs. old on a John Deere B with a single bottom plow.

2 years ago, I saw an Amish man pulling one of those vertical tillage outfits, looked to be a 10 footer, with a 6 horse hitch. His Dad runs a grower supply, where you can buy anything from hoop house supplies, to plants. While his Dad was getting what we needed, we could hear them coming up the driveway behind the barn. My friend had never seen Draft horses up that close before, and was a little intimidated with their size.

I asked him how he liked it, as it looked brand new. He had a big smile, and said he really liked it, as he could cover a lot more ground, in a lot less time, compared to plowing & disking.
