I took my old generator to the local shop and he made it into an alternator. I have attached the the document that I am using to wire up my M.

Here are some notes about the drawing:
*The green square between the ignition switch and ignition coil is the resistor that most kits have in them (About $15)
*I had to buy a new 12V Voltage Regulator (My 6V was shot anyway) ($25)
*The drawing shows a positive ground, but its actually a negative ground

We used an alternator from a Datsun B-210 made by Mitsubishi. It's small Dia. gives good hood clearance. We used a ford electronic regulator also.

i converted mine and used the same old 6 volt starter.
dido, except the conversion was on an 8n Ford, but still used the same 6 volt starter.

my wd and 8n both used an old Delco 2 wire alternator, the two wires were just wired together, I don't recall were the wire ran, but I think it went to the alt gauge, then a wire to the one post on the ignition switch (had a car type ignition). Don't quote me on it though.
