I have a 1995 455 that works good when it is cold. When it warms up and you let off the foot pedal it won't stop in forward or reverse. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

Does it just act like its drifting? Does it move like that before you press the pedal?

My 425 does the same sometimes in forward, seems to only do it when mowing and holding the forward pedal in the same position for a while.I think it might be the dampner-shock absorber is getting weak with age.I checked the linkage on mine and could not find anything binding. It hasnt really been a problem so I never dug further into it,I just tap the other pedal when it happens.

Check the linkages for slop. Worn bushings, rod attachment points, and rods can all be contributing to sloppy operating characteristics.
