This may sound dumb, but did you cycle the PTO switch off and back on (with the seat switch engaged, the parking brake off, and not pushing on the reverse pedal)? If it still won't engage, you may have a relay or switch stuck.
455 54" mower deck doesn't enguage
The engine got hot and the mower disengaged. After the engine cooled I added coolant and started it back up but now the mower won't start back up again. Hydraulic fluid level is good. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Over temp on the diesel will shut it off. Perhaps relay stuck open.
