I have a JD 425 with a 60” mower deck. The hood has some tape on it but I did all the fluids and filters change. New power steering cylinder and lines sharpen blades. New seat. How much could I sell it for?

Price will depend on location. A 425 will not fetch as much as say a 445 or 455. Again, like mentioned above- the year, maintenance and hours of the machine will speak volumes. In all honesty without any attachments I believe you will top out at $1000-1500 as it sits. But then again all that matters is what someone is willing to pay.

With a better hood and the tail lights replaced, that's $2500-3000 around my area. Although I did recently pick up a 425 with 700 hours mint condition, cam gear replaced with the service records to prove it, a quick hitch and 4 way blade, and an mc519 bagger and powerflo for just $1500.

98 is the year the plastic cam gear switched to metal gear. The best way to know is from the engine serial number on the front, below the crank. Those stickers fall off. You can also get an idea from the build date on the radiator.

I’m amazed how few of these I see for sale now, and how they are priced. I wouldn’t be surprised to see your pics with a 2500-3k price in New England. That’s 2x what I think they should be worth, but if they sell, maybe I’m just cheap!

Those above are at a dealer, so you can almost expect a private party sale to be substantially lower. Again, with a good hood, taillights and good plastic about $2k would be expected.
