The ol' 425 with 800 hours started missing on the left cylinder. There is no spark coming from the left coil pack. I know that you guys have the answer for this that will save me throwing parts at it! Thanks in advance!!!

Well don't know what engine that is but most V twins use a quirky Kill Wire harness that has diodes in it that sometimes go bad. I would disconnect the Kill wire from the base of the non firing coil and see if it fires, if it doesn't, bad coil.

IF it does fire, replace Kill Wiring Harness.

Just a follow up on my spark issue: I replaced the ignitor unit and it runs like new. I purchased it from Jeg's Performance for less than 100 bucks, which is $200 cheaper than JD. It was the identical unit to the original too. Here's the ordering info: 313-131800-0131 IGNITOR JOHN DEERE 84.99
