I am trying to figure out why the lights on my 425 are not working. I am getting power to the switch and the switch is functional, but no power at the lights. There is a grounding lug on the left rear of the engine that has two spades on it, one has the wire broken off but I have been unable to locate any hanging wires. I am waiting for my owners manual, hopefully that will have schematics that will be of some use. Also, the temp gauge is not functioning. Looks like the instrument cluster is sealed so is there any way to check if the temperature sensor is working before purchasing another one?

Different serial #'s have different wire colors.. There is a big plug on the lower left frame rail area in front of the foot rest which connects the main harness to the engine/lighting harness. The spade terminals you speak of are ground connections.. If there is one wire broken / unconnected I'll wager it may be your trouble.. The ground is also necessary @ the light.. Here's a picture with general wiring illustrated from the .PDF service manual:

The plug you mentioned is the one I was focusing on. It was zip tied together and appeared like it had been ripped apart at some point. There was a single red/black wire coming out of this plug (that goes right into another single plug) that was almost severed that I fixed. The temperature sensor also runs into this plug. There were no wires missing from the plug, but it could be possible that one of the terminals had more than one wire coming from it and went to the broken ground connection directly above this plug.
