425 deck depth control knob

can someone please tell me how to remove the mower deck depth control knob on my jd 425 mower. trying to remove my side steps and connected center portion where knob is located.

Im assuming your talking about removing the foot boards? Is so the deck height knob just lifts off with the rest of the footboard there is a huge bolt that sits under it the knob has to fit on that bolt head just right so when you turn the knob your actually turning the bolt. After you get the foot board off if you turn it upside down you will see a large spring clip that clip is all that holds the knob on but i dont know how you would get to it without first taking the foot boards off

Yep, I just did this on a 455. When you remove the fender deck the knob comes off with it.
