42'' mower deck model?

I just ordered belts for the mower deck I am restoring based on 917 253250 42'' deck but since then found out my model is 917 253230, I ordered 1/2x87'' and 5/8x103'' kevlar belts The question I ask is are they the same belt sizes? I have looked all over on 3 different web sites for the 917 253230 manual but can not find it, any help here will be great thank you.

Have you tried checking SearsPartsDirect for manuals?

Yes I did and they had nothing.:tango_face_crying:
Thank but yes and no, going by that the deck belt is the same although different part number. The mule drive belt is not the same though, it is shorter then the one I ordered. When I first got the tractor I went thru doing the belts and I thought it was 103'' long, I have the originals but we just moved town and jobs 2 years ago and I am still trying to find stuff.

It's possible that the deck info alone won't give you the belt length. Perhaps engine X was mounted further forward than engine Y, requiring different belts on tractors X and Y, even using the same deck.

The overall machine model number might be more helpful?

(The impression I got was that the number you listed is just for the deck itself. Sorry if that's actually a tractor #)

I did a post back in 2016 https://www.mytractorforum.com/14-craftsman-sears-forum/1009362-my-first-sears.htmlabout this apparently and sort of answered my own question lol, I will wait till the new belts get here and try them, they should be OK.
