Side screens are NLA for this model so I freshend up my Toolmaking Skills and here is the finished side screen,Made a wooden model first, then fiberglassed over it,trimmed the part and bonded galvanized screen to the back,I think it turned out pretty good.Got the deck back from sandbl;aster and the pullie area was terrible so I painted it with rubberized paint to keep water fromgetting to the metal any more.

Side screen looks great! I like the idea of the rubberized paint on the deck.

Does the rubberized paint work pretty good? What brand is it? Can you give me a little more information on it?

In the 70s and 80s, I had bought a couple of new mowers and before I used them, I undercoated the decks with a product called Zophar. I just did a search on it and here it is.

http://www.reddenmarine.com/z-pro-020-zophar-triple-a-no-20-black-gallon.html

It is a marine and railroad paint that is abrasion resistant. The agricultural company that worked for at the time, used it to paint pumps that are immersed in water. It worked good on the mower decks. I had also just brushed it on the tongue of my
Coleman pop up camp trailer. I still have the trailer and the tongue is still not rusted out. I see it is now over $100 a gallon. I think I will look to see if it is available in pints or quarts. If so that should be a good investment to put under my deck of the 345 that I had just purchased. Under the pan of my tiller, I bet would be a good place for it too.

I it use only for mower decks in the spindle area,it seems the most trouble spot.Under the deck i haven't used it there. It seems to hold up good and much better than paint.I am going to paint Yellow over and see the results.

That is a great idea! After you are done please post pics and keep me posted as to how it holds up. Thanks!

I don't want any more heat or humidity than I have here. I haven't ridden in while. The temps cool off when the afternoon rains come, but the humidity is so heavy. It rained about 2 hours ago and my temp gauge say 84 and the humidity is 85%. Our low tonight will be around 80 degrees. I am going to try to ride this weekend.

I haven't tried POR. When I took my seat pan off about 3 weeks ago, I wire brushed some surface rust on the frame and put some Rust-o-leum reform on it, let it sit for two days, then primed it and it sat for a day, then sprayed JD green on it. Looks good, but will have to see if it will last.
