Still working, albeit slowly, on my '87 318. I need (want) to get a new seat for it and believe my wife is planning on getting me one for my upcoming B-day. I've seen some on Ebay, TY15863 seems to be the part number. Anyone see them for less than $100 w/shipping?

They call it a "High Back Seat", although I thought I saw a different seat on one of the pictures on this forum with an even higher back. I think I would like that seat a little better but don't know anything about it or even if it would fit a 318.

Does anyone know of this seat?

I think 85 bucks plus shipping seems to be the going rate on e-bay. I have been looking as well.

I have the same questions about getting a seat that has a higher back than the original or standard replacement for the 318. Is there one from a later model that will fit the 318? And also, one that can be mounted a little farther back than the orignal. I always feel like I'm sitting to close to the steering wheel.

According to the JD parts catalog, the p/n is AM103284 for the standard seat. There was a seat with the deluxe suspension option, but don't know if it was any higher.

You have any Tractor Supply stores close to you? If so check out there replacement seats. They wont say John Deere but are the right color.

Look at the TSC high-back I put on Toy. Has about a dozen holes on the bottom to fit most anything. BUT My friend put the same seat on a 332 and it it is even closer to the dash than the original, which because of the gas filler cant be pushed back any farther.
There are a couple of Manufacturers @ TSC also look @ the garden tractor
( only) seats it's high back is just a little higher than the original.

I'd really like to get a JD seat, with all of the accompanying logos, so I'll probably drop the C note (or my wife will) for the replacement. Wish I could find the pic I saw... but perhaps the 318, when done, will look new again with the correct seat.

Looked at the variety of seats at TSC, but for the lack of a JD logo, I think I'll pass. Too much green blood in me...
