I am looking at buying a power pac from a 318. I checked the compadiblity charts on this web site and it looks like it will fit it's an exact fit ( same BM number). My question is the rear pto on a 318 the same as on my 430? I spoke to the guy and he stated that the power pak is rear pto driven. He said he has a pulley on the back of his 318 that powers the power pak. I have not taken the trek out to see it yet, but thought I may get an answer from someone here. I asked the guy if the pulley was on a shaft that was put into the rear pto and he did not know as he is not mechanically inclined and he stated he has never taken it off and was just parting out the power pak.

I know i'll need a new boot for the deck (my 60" deck versus the 48" deck of the 318), just trying to figure out how the power pak is driven? Anyone out there with a 318 and a rear pto driven Power pak (rear hard box grass catcher, tilt and dump)

Pics would be very helpful
Thanks

I believe the correct PTO for this one has not gear case, but it simply a shat the goes onto the hydro stub shaft mounts to the rear via a bracket and has an electrical PTO clutch on the end with a double pulley. I've only ever seen a picture, but you could look up the power pack on JDparts.com and perhaps get an illustration and part number.
