Zacman's thread on his 140 got me thinking...

How many pounds can I add to the front and rear of my 318? For example, wheel weights, suitcases front and rear etc.

Is there a maximum rating per JD?

At what point do I realistically begin to overstress the engine, trans, or frame?

Just curious.

They are designed to take a frontloader and ballast necessary to offset it. Are you expecting to get more weight on it than that? I would expect the frontloader with a bucket load would be several hundred pounds and the ballast necessary would be about a couple hundred as well.

Q: How many pounds can I add to the front and rear of my 318?

A: All of them, lol.

now that i'm done being a smarty, i'm fairly curious as well. i plan on putting roughly 200-300# on the back of my 140, and the 54 power blade on the front must be 200+ pretty easily. plus my 200+ lbs (cough cough, slightly under rated lol :dunno:)
