Needing help on my 316, front pto clutch isn’t engaging. It was working before I swapped the motor out, took it apart and cleaned all the oil out of it and reassembled. Now with the clutch plugged in I get no light and the motor dies but when I unplug the clutch the pto light comes on. The field coil passes all of the tests in the service manual.
Seat switch and the PTO switch have to work including the wiring. Check those, check all grounds since you swapped motors, and check the TDCM plugs for dirt/corrosion.
ended up just being a crushed wire behind the clutch! boy did i feel dumb, been messing with this thing for 3 or 4 months now! a little bit of heat shrink and electrical tape and she works like new! now to get the blades sharpened and the deck mounted!
