Early on at the start of the season, I changed the filter and added some Hy-Guard to my tractor. I stopped by the dealer today and picked up some more fluid and another filter so I can do a flush and put some fresh fluid in. I found a parts catalog and it seems I'm missing a part. It's called an "accumulator" and it goes on that sight tube. The p/n is AM36965... It looks like a fuel filter the way it's drawn in the book. Do I need this part? What does it do? I know on a car with an automatic trans the accumulator dampens the force of shifting so the car doesn't jerk.

Its more of a vent. No fluid goes through it, but if fluid did it would get returned to the diff case.
