There is a house in our neighborhood that is a forclosure and I can see about half the yard from my back porch. The yard actually abuts mine on one side. There is a property management company that comes in about every 10-14 days to take care of the lawn, but by the time they get there it's more like a hayfield. Since about early June I was cutting the side I can see from my back porch just so I didn't have to look at the hayfield or the windrows of grass after it was cut.

Well, about the time I picked up the 312, the management company "caught" me mowing the yard. We got to talking and he said if I did the entire yard every week they would pay me $40.00 a week. This sounded like a a grand arrangement to me especially since they sprayed grass killer around all of the buildings so I never have to get off my tractor. It's only a little over 1/4 acre so I can do it in about 15-20 minutes with the 46" deck.

He asked if I would be interested in doing other properties in town & I told him if I had to load the tractor up on a trailer it wasn't worth it to me. The only reason I agreed to do this one is because it's right next door.

Well, about the end of July the house next to that one, which is a rental property, was vacated by the tenants. The landlord approched me and asked about mowing for him until it was re-rented. He said would probably be until the end of the mowing season as he has alot of renovations to do. (sounds like they really trashed the place) I said I would do it but only the main grass areas, I wouldn't get off the tractor to use a push mower for trimming. He agreed to my price & I've ben doing that for a few weeks now.

I've already collected almost $500.00 between the 2 properties so by the end of the mowing season I should have the 312 paid for. This doesn't cover any fuel, wear on the tractor or my time but hey...makes me feel like the tractor is paying for itself.

My neighbor has been ill, him and his wife both have cancer. I've been also mowing their 1.5 acres besides my 6 acres. The wife uses the little sabre and I use the 445, only takes us a few hours. I never mowed their yard before, but did blow their yard out during winter. I knew something wasn't right when their grass reach the length close to a foot. I said that's it, wife get on the sabre. We mowing a lot of grass today. We could have baled hay over there also. It was wet and long.
