So i was mowing last weekend and just tapped a tree with the corner of my hood and cracked it.As some of you may remember, I had done some exstensive fiberglass repairs on this hood in the spring so needless to say i was a little ****** when i broke it again. So i fabbed up a quick front bumper today and used my new "yardsale" welder and it actually is turning out ok.Its not finished,i will be adding another tube under the one in the pic but i will update this post tommorrow with tube on.
1.Cut 2 pieces of 2 1/2 1/8 inch flat to 8 inches.Centered and drilled hole for mounting to fit frame hole.
2.Put in vise and put 1 inch bend on ends to avoid cutting scallop for tube
3.Went to our local muffler shop and got the piece of 1/ 3/4 scrap for free and they bent it for 5.00
4.Welded and painted

Check out my home made headlight bezel! 1 inch azak cut to fit simplicity headlights lolol

Boy that bumper sure looks nice. The headlights give it a more modern look too, IMO. Great work. :fing32:

good work - these jd plastic hoods don't rust but they don't like any pressure put on them.
i did the same type bumper on my 400 but used square 3" tubing, cut a piece out of the back - bent and welded to match same bolt holes. i found some plugs online to finish off the ends and it looks like factory -- almost.

Re: 30 min.front bumper JD 140 Finished !

Added second tube looks pretty beefy now.Check it out.Could have used flat instead of tube for hanging weights on the front but i only use it for mowing as of now, some day i will get a plow and maybe a sleeve hitch.

Nice work. My personal preference would be a single tube, a larger single tube, or dual tubes separated by an inch or two. My brain refuses to like it with the two tubes touching like that.
