I have a 30" deck with an anti scalping roller on it and after about 450 hours of use it is completely worn out.

I bought a new bracket and roller decided to try to do something about it.

Anyway, here are the results. Not exactly a perfect solution but it should be better.

I had a piece of hex stock to make a bushing. The bearing is a 6203 and the shaft is 5/8 so the bushing makes up the difference. The bushing also prevents the roller from moving axially and rubbing against the steel brackets.

Note grease hole in shaft.

Grease zerk added just in case.

Hopefully this will stop the shaft from wearing out so quick.

I will post pictures of the worn out shaft tomorrow.

The bearings added about $10. The bushings were bits of scrap.

As a note, this mower deck was used to cut grass in a graveyard. The soil was very sandy which at least partially or fully explains the wear.

i bought new ones for far less than $100.
