What I got:
A.) a 1995 LT4000 19hp B+S opposed twin with a bad transaxle 917.252561
B.) 2002 LT1000 17 ohv B+S with a broken rod, hole in block. 917.271652
C.) 1995 Craftsman II 15.5 kohler Command, hydro rear, PO broke the front ear off the carb ! 917.252590

Options...
1). put the hydro from C into A
2). pay the $150 for a new carb and fix C
3). replace the 15.5 carb and swap motor into B
Ideally, doing 1 AND 3 would make me very happy. Tractor B is still 2 hours away, so I can't look at both at same time.
A and C are in my garage.
any thoughts ??? ( i already learned swapping a twin into 1 cyl mower too difficult to bother )

The carb from C :

Good morning! I would love to buy the one with opposed twin from you for a Craftsman I need engine for!
I would look on Ebay / Craigslist for a Kohler carb and swap them, easy enough. I have done the opposed twin swap with a single before. It is not just bolt up of course, but not horrible either. Some wiring work and making sure you have the right pulleys.
Good luck!

I would try JB weld also but use JB industrial, not the JB Kwick set, otherwise look for a carb you might find a used one on e bay for less money than $150.00

he he.. I just had it running. starts perfect, purrs nice, got idle down so low it sounds like a cheap Harley! ..
Even the deck is pretty quiet while cutting. Of course, it wont move, but everything is nice n clean.
But it is the one I really want to fix. Sorry.

I made a posting here asking that same question... got some good advice, but haven't got a confirmed yes or no yet.

Biggest problem is B is still 2 hours away. until it gets here I can't compare apples to apples....
Until then, I was hoping you guys could confirm my aspirations, or crush my dreams. :trink39:

Thanks !

After a day of 'fiddling' I have realized:
If the frames are the same, I should be able to swap rear from C into A ( Thanks Bill )
And I'm going to try it, as C has also decided that it wants a new coil ( no spark) and has only 50 psi comression. I did find a donor 15.5 motor for $75, but I really don't need/want another -anything- i have to work on ... it's becoming work, not fun.

Once again, I spent a week talking about something that took a total of 3 hours to complete.:duh:

Trans from C into A, total of 12 bolts, 4 e-clips, and 3 cotter pins on each unit.

If you watched the video, they had to change shifters because one had a tank under the seat, other did not.
My A and C both had tanks under seat, so the sticks were identical. The belt, belt guides, and brake rod are specific to, and must stay with, the trans.

Thanks again to everyone for your help !

EDIT: anyone need some trans internals ? Free? want the whole 930-057 ?
I'M in NJ, zip is 08723. let me know....
