re: The 2354GXLS, it seems that Chris223 (24795) is the only member
that has mentioned that this mower has a locking differential. Does
this mower indeed have a locking differential? Thanks

This is an update on the above post : After talking to several Husqvarna
dealers, they all said that the 2354GXLS has a K66Y transaxle and it does
not have a locking differential. I also talked to Tuff Torq about the K66Y
transaxle and after research they informed me the K66Y is not a locking
differential transaxle. One Husqvarna dealer told me he thought the X
in the model number meant that this lawnmower had a B&S Vanguard
engine. Just thought I'd pass this information along.

Wouldn't that be nice though, Art? A sub $5000 GT with a commercial engine and diff lock? Now from what I have read, there is a locking version of the K66 made, but the K66Y is not that one.

Cool thing about the Vanguard is that there is supposedly a 30 or 35 amp stator available, which would give you the juice to start doing all kind of sexy stuff like electric FELs, 3PHs, or sleeve hitches.

Wonder what the price differential is between the K66Y and the AC or L? If $100 or less (in the quantity Husqvarna would buy them) you'd think they would implement them.

Probably attract a lot of people looking at JD x500s wouldn't you think?

:Welcome1:

there are plenty of durable LT in the sub 4k range. building a durable GARDEN tractor under 4k new is not likely to happen. adjusted for inflation machines today are already cheaper than models 20+ years ago.

Craftsman has the "Pro" GT that competes with the X500 and other similar machines on the surface but when you get down to it the quality is not there. those "pro" machines likely won't last much if any longer than the regular machiens next to them on the display floor.

I never remember saying this. But that being said, when I talked to a manager at my local Husqvarna dealership, I thought I remember him saying it did have a locking diff. Either way, I didn't buy the Husqvarna for a variety of other reasons.

There were two or three threads a few months ago where a bunch of us were trying to decipher exactly what was what with the new Husqvarnas. I recall one or more of us wishing the 2354GXLS did have dif-lock. There website was way out of whack and it seemed like different people were getting different stories from their dealers. I think the 2146XLS we all agreed based upon an eyewitness account in addition to the website, has both the Vanguard and diff lock, but not ground engaging capability.
