Hey guys. I wold like your opinion. I'm looking at a JD 2210 with a 200cx quick attach front end loader and a 62 inch belly mower at the local JD dealer. The tractor has only 210 hours and its an 05 model. They are asking 12,500 for it and i don't really know if that's a good deal or not. Ive looked online and they seem to be between 9k and 12k dollars depending on the hours. What do you think? Good deal or am I being shafted. Cosmetics are in perfect shape, no scratches except on the bucket and no fade or torn seat. It looks perfect. Are there any specific things I need to look at or is this just plain too much money? i looked online at the newer model 2305 and they are about the same price, what gives? do these tractors hold their value really well? The guy at the dealer said that I should have no problem selling it and getting the same money i paid or possible even more later on in the future if i decide to sell it. that seems a little far fetched? what do you guys think? Thanks -Matt

Hey Matt, 2210s are holding their value very well. If they were taken care of, and low hrs. they run in the $10-12K range. I would think they could come down $500-$1000 yet on that.

Good luck, you would love the 2210 if you get it!!

As a reference, prices vary by state etc... I bought a 2305 in 2008 in OH - that was a 2007 model year, with balance of warranty, 200CX loader and 62C deck and 35 hours on the clock - for 11,500 + tax if memory serves me correctly. It too was spotless. And the dealer threw in a $100 bag of filters to boot.

I would think that 11,000 would be a good price. 11,500 would be OK. I'd pay 12,000 only if I was desparate. 12,500?... don't think so.

Looking at tractorhouse.com, I saw units like that one, more hours, but for $10,900.... in Ohio though....

It's a tough call.

Give them an offer of 11,000 and see what they move to...

I have a 2004 JD2210 w/ a 210 loader, 62C deck, and a Woods BH6000 backhoe. About
11/2 year ago I had 300ish hours on it and got a trade in price of $12000. All the equipment was new when purchased and cost about $20,000ish. I was shocked when I heard the price and confirmed it with a 2nd dealer. They both said that although it is a great tractor is is considered the "economy model" and that the depreacation would be significant. I was going to trade it in on a JD2320. The deal would have been all of my equip plus $10000 out of pocket for a JD2320 w/FEL, deck, and BH. Bottom line I think the price is a little steep.

I bought my 2305 with a CX 200 loader ,260 back hoe and a 62c mower for $12000 with 117 Hr.s last summer at a consignment auction. also keep in mind that the 2210 was tha replaced by the 2305 and the 2305 is due to be replaced by the 1000 series early next spring. So the dealer may be motivated to get the 2210 off the lot before the 1000 series hits the market. my thought is the dealer should be willing to make you a deal in the $10,000 range if you are patient. shoot the dealer a $10,000 offer and walk Steve

Welcome to the forum! :Welcome1: I would ask about the maintenance history. Maybe have the dealership service everything if in question (at their expense).

agreed with the previous comments. Although I would remark that the trade-in value of 12k for a TLB with mower, is not what the tractor is worth if you were selling it to someone else.
That dealer needs to make money. That TLB package probably fetch 15-16k. So the dealer needs to make his money - therefore offers you 12k for trade-in value.

Nonetheless, I agree with low-balling the offer... as was mentioned, this tractor is about to be 2 generations old...

This sounds like a plan.
My 2305 in April 2006 new with a FEL was $11,300.00 plus tax.

Well I just sold my 2003 with 330 hours, 200CX loader with 53 inch bucket, 62 inch belly mower, and an old box blade for $9K.... It was in very good condition.

For this one, newer and lower hours. Maybe a tad high on price, I think $500... up to 1K of "negotiating" room.... at least!

If your the seller that's a great price, but as a buyer its too high.
I picked up my 2010 2305 (used) a few months back, granted it doesn't have the FEL but does have the quick hitch and 54 blade came with 54" deck extra blades, filters hydro, oil, tires... for much much less.

If you buy it - make the dealer GREASE the ridiculous grease zerks on the shaft that has been mentioned here. Better yet, make him install a zerk on the flat part of the shaft as someone suggested (forgot who, do a search on forum). And, I would also want to make sure all fluids/filters have been changed to whatever is best at this time (some new JD fluids?). My point is make sure it will be in excellent condition.

I have 2210, and it is fantastic! And, of course, I agree with the others on getting the lowest deal you possibly can. These 2210/2305s do hold their value quite well, so I think you are safe in getting one; you will use it, and later, maybe get a decent price if you sell. Their size is good for small acreage, and gardening, grass cutting. And, with the FEL, you can move all kinds of stuff. You already know all this though. Just like mine.

Work on $1,000 or so off his asking price, AFTER he assures you the services have been done, including shaft grease zerks.

Well, here's what I ended up doing. The dealer originally quoted me 10,500 for the tractor and accessories not seeing it in person yet. They just bought it from another dealer and was having it shipped to them. When it arrived the called me and i went down and test drove it and all that good stuff. We sat down to do the paper work and that's when he told me they wanted 12,500 for it. so I asked what the deal was with the 10,500 quote and he told me that its in nicer shape than what he thought and thinks its worth more than that. So, I just got up thanked him for his time and left. Then 2 days later I called and made the same offer to him at 10,500 and he told me that hes got more than 10,500 invested in the tractor and couldn't sell it for that price. So that was that and I havn't called him since. I saw 10,500 being a very fair price and 12,500 being a little high but I wanted to see what you guys thought first. Thanks for your time and responses. It's very much appreciated, and I will continue to look.

Maybe it's just me but the second he raised the price $2,000.00 I would have walked and left a few not so nice words. I'm sorry but no dealer is going to put out over 10 grand and not know what he's buying. He thought he had you and he was wrong, stick to your convictions. He's a used car salesman in my opinion.
When I bought mine one JD dealer swore he would beat any price when I went to him he had more stories then a bad Christmas movie, I ran out. I had a orange store who refused to give me a price in writing right up to the time I bought the cash with me, he refused to give me a solid price and I had cash. You have to run from people like this because if they treat you like this now just think if you have a problem what they will do to you.:Stop:

That saleshole is a tool:banghead3 if he said that. Then he later jacks the price $2000 when you get there? That move elevates him to a status out of the saleshole league, but the word still uses most of the same letters.:biglaugh:

I would walk and make a complaint to the owner of the dealership about the ethical conduct of the person.

Matt, hang in there. Your patience will eventually pay off. With the new models coming out, you may find a real good deal on a 2305 that has all bugs taken care of.:fing32::fing32:

Sorry to read/hear about this from any dealer no matter the color. There are great salesmen and dealers out there. I hope you find one and enjoy your new tractor and the dealer service you'll be getting. You might have tp drive a bit farther but it'll be worth it in the end. Best of luck to you.

I agree with the others that what he did was wrong, and I'd never go back to that dealer. I am sure if you keep on the lookout other deals will come your way.

There's no way he has more than $10,500 invested since he purchased it from another dealer and originally quoted you $10,500 prior to delivery. You did the right thing by walking away. Anyway...

My 2 cents: I also looked at several used 2210's and 2305's (from dealers, eBay, & CraigsList), but they were all overpriced ("holding their value"): I was able to buy my new 2305 for nearly the same as a 1-2 year-old tractor once you considered financing interest. I had cash (via Bank of The Wife), but even my/"her" cash gained interest at the bank and used tractors were only selling for $500 -$1500 less.

Hopefully you will find the deal you were promised. Or maybe you'll be the first here to report on your new 1 series tractor (JD's 2305 replacement)!
