Hello All, I have a 214 JD lawn and garden tractor
the P.I.N. is M00214X286980 , I would like to know what year it is.
* What oil have you been using in your older Kohler engine (10 w 30 (?)

Looks like a 1984.

Generally 30 wt is recommended by most folks during the summer.

10w 30 is a winter oil, however it may make it use a bit more oil. If it does, i would keep the 30w but put a small heater underneath the motor before you fire it up to keep the oil thinner. Also refer to Mr Bs post above

Rotella hd30 in the summer and 10w-30 in the winter. It will burn oil in the summer with 10w-30.
