You're probably right. Deere is proud of their accessories so I thought there would be a good cheaper option considering they're basically plastic and netting but probably best to pay their prices.

You will want to stay with the correct setup from JD to make life much easier. If I were you, I'd be watching marketplace and craigslist. They pop up fairly often, just need to know which setup fits your machine. Check with your dealer before buying used for correct model.

Possible alternative?...... a used Cyclone Rake? I originally bought mine new for my fall leaf clean ups, but quickly found it useful on every lawn mowing, all summer. Guess it would depend on how large of an area you have to mow and maintain. Good luck with whatever you choose.
