2014 John Deere x540

Anyone have knowledge of future JD Garden tractors? I started out with a box store la130se, and since have traded up with a local dealer to a z445. it is a beast, but I can't get use to the zero turn. I am currently talking to my local deal about a x540. The deck is not much different than the z445. I know for the new x700 series they have a high capacity deck, I was wondering maybe in 2014, they would put a high capacity deck on the x500 series. If so, then I will wait to buy, and be a for sure buyer. I really want a x738, but can't justify it.

Welcome to the forum Scott. I will go ahead and move this to the JD forum. :howdy:
I don't think JD releases much info on the next year's machines until Sep/Oct. The 48" or 54" on the X540 is pretty good at handling grass so you shouldn't have much of an issue without a HC deck. Sure I'd love to have one of the 48" 7Iron decks under my X500 but they only fit on the commercial zero turns unless you have some welding skills.

Thanks Mark, new to posting here. I sure enjoy the site, and have done a lot of my research on this site before making purchases. Great Site!
First of all, welcome to the forum. As for the chances of JD putting a 7-Iron under a X5xx, I'd say the chances are very slim. The price of admission into THAT club is an X7xx.

(FWIW, my GF had a ZT. I always felt like I was fighting it. Never did get used to it. But I'm sure it's just a matter of preference.)

I don't think we will see the HC decks on the X5 series. If that is your big want then go for the X7, I agree with wizzo the X5 seem to handle grass really well.
Just get the X738
Just ordered my JD X738 today from my local dealer! Come on 7-10 days, so I have a couple cuts with it this fall!
Congrats! You are going to love that tractor!!!

Congrats on the X738!!:fing32:
Congrats on the new tractor. :fing32: Did you order the 7 iron deck for it?

:thanku:
They actually didn't use the 7 iron decks starting in 2013 for the new x7 series. They are using a 8 or 9 gauge steel. Supposedly stamped just the same as the 7 irons, with the high capacity, but lighter. Got the 54" deck with auto connect, and a mulch kit.

I have the X739 with the 54" HC Deck. The cut is unbelievable and the auto connect is a great option. The only problem I'm having with it is figuring out how I'm going to afford all the stuff I'd like to buy for it. Enjoy!

X324 & X739
Congrats on the new purchase. I love the x5xx series, can only imangine on the on the x7xx.
Congratulations, you won't regret it and welcome to the site. :MTF_wel:
