I guess I'll start a new thread. I got this one yesterday, here's a pic in here:

I look at it some more last night, the steering is real lose, and the trans sounds some what crunchy when you start moving. My question is will this one last me? Is changing the trans oil going to help or hurt it? Can I do anything to the steering? Anybody here have this tractor? If so how is it holding up? I'm very new to the whole tractor thing. I'm good with my hands when it comes to cars, but not so much with tractors. Any kind of help would be great. So far this place is kick ***. Thanks guys.

I can't help with the hydro part, as mine is a 6 speed. I have an lt4000 but looks quite similar to yours. Having recently completely torn down and re-done mine I have learned much in how these work. For the steering there is a bushing by the steering shaft behind the gas tank that is probably worn. Mine is worn out too and in need of replacement. I will be ordering a new one soon to change it out. Also the "ball joints" on the steering arm are probably loose and failing. They are a pressed in piece so you can't do much with them. I bought a couple heim joints (rod ends) and will be cutting the shaft down and installing those. Or you can by a new arm and replace that if they are available.
