What is the approximate weight capacity for a 2 ply 4.8-8 turf tire? I am building a trailer and would like to know if these tires will work.

:thanku:

No luck. They are goodyears, but I can't find them on the manufacturer's website and can't even find them in a google search.

I went looking for the tire load capacity chart. It ain't available online. I found this response explaining the situation.

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Tires-2359/2010/3/Load-Capacity-Tire-PSI.htm

However, with great determination and much hardship, I put on my boots and went out to my van and dug out my old Chilton's Travel Trailer Repair & Maintenance Guide (First edition, 1973) and lo and behold, 4.80-8 tires are listed for load ranges A, B,and C, along with the load limits for tire pressures from 20-90 psi.

4.80-8 LR "A" 2-ply 30 psi (max) 385 lb
4.80-8 LR "B" 4-ply 65 psi (max) 610 lb
4.80-8 LR "C" 6 ply 90 psi (max) 735 lb

The maximum pressures may not be correct for your tires, but this will give you an idea of the carrying capacity.

Tubed tires work fine on a tubeless rim.

Those old books are priceless! I had put a tube in a tubeless rim/tire and it worked great!
