Hey guys I have a 108 JD and I believe its an 85 as it has a Kawi motor on it. Its been sitting for 7 years at my grandpas place and I finally got the dang thing to run (the float valve needle was off the float). I was using it for about an hour sweeping the dead grass while my dad cut with another tractor when I decided I would start cuttin too. Well I maybe shouldn't have done that as the strain from the motor caused the "oil cap" I had to pop off (some dough head took mine and I forgot I had just stuffed a rag in there :sorry1: ). I saw all the oil and cut it off imdeiately. The motor wasn't knocking or anything else. So I need to know the oil capacity for it and how long the dip stick is (i'm just gonna find a cap that will thread on and then make a dip stick.

Thanks guys,

John

85GTkid,
Can't be of any help to you, but wanted to say ....:MTF_wel:.
There are a bunch of JD guys here that know their stuff, so I'm sure they can answer your question.

If not, try http://www.weekendfreedommachines.com/. They are a group of JD only guys and I know several over there that have the 108 and can get you measurements.

Hey thanks man. Yeah the original cap went MIA in my grandpas garage (I think his brother in law took it :tsk: and I didn't want any trash to get in the motor. I'm gonna check this store near me and see if they have one (they have odd stuff like that) but if not it looks like im gonna have to fab one.

I'd check at you rlocal Deere dealer for a replacement. I couldn't find a part number on line for you for the model 108, but the dipstick for the model 111 lists for $26.50 which is a bit expensive, but that's up to you.
