1976 Sears SS/18 Restoration Complete!

First Sears restoration in 9 years! Met a great seller. Previous owners had purchased the tractor (slightly used) in 1977. Both father and son worked for Sears on the assembly line and as technicians for a number of years. The sellers late father used the tractor up until he passed away a few months ago. Seller really wanted me to purchase the tractor to restore it, and wanted to send it to a good home. Got a great deal on it; weights, extra set of tires/rims, trans, extra cone/hood, deck, snow thrower and a front blade.

Tractor came to me with an ST dash on it. I chose to keep it. I added strobes/floods to the front and rear, backlit ammeter, new belt, hoses, brake band, front tires, and replaced most of the wiring harness. New decals throughout and had a custom decal made for the dash, Replaced 95% of the fasteners throughout. Tractor was well used, but luckily it was garaged for 40 years. Apart from having to re-tap sheared trans bolts, the tractor was in great shape. This SS is going to be my new workhorse. Fun build! :trink40:

Looks fantastic! You're the first guy I have seen use the Hi runs, and they look nice. Do you still want that bracket?

Where did you end up getting replacement parts? Any single website? I'm doing a mower deck for my ss18 and want to find a rebuild kit or 3 spindles.
Nice work! Great to see the old iron come back to life.
What tranny did they use in those? Peerless or another manufacturer?
