Brad has tipped me off to a Wheel Horse on Craigs List. It's a '74 16 Horse 8 speed. It has a RD mower, a snowblower and roto tiller. I called the guy and arranged to go get it tomorrow. Cross your fingers for me. The price? $350
It might be a 1973 tractor. That is the year for "no names" just numbers.
1974 would have been a C series.
But it still a heck of a deal if it runs well and is in decent shape.
I got the tractor today! Yay, I always wanted a C- 160. Yup, Teddy. It's a '74. The engine and trans work okay. The sheet metal is sad. It needs the steering tower welded and fixed up. The rear fender is a cracked and welded mess. Needs tie rod ends. Normal stuff. I'm so socially over booked until next Thurs at least. I'll take pictures when I can. I have a couple of questions.(1) I I'm not sure all the rototiller is there. Can anyone post pictures of the drive for it? I don't see anyway of it working the way it is. (2)Does any one have a flag for the snowblower to sell?
I've got a complete set of pictures of the tiller and installation. Do you need the front end shot where it hooks to the tractor. I can go out and zero in later on a particular area if needed.
Yeah, I defenitly don't have everything. The stuff under the pto isn't there. Now that I have it home and have time to examine it, the knives are pretty shot, too.:duh:
All can be found--there, actrually is a man in Penn. who does a complete remake of the clutch/pulley assembly--he lives very close to billy (another member here)...
But--anyway--good luck with your find--and keep us informed!!
Sorry, I'm so slow with these! Below are the photos as promised.
The first photos are the tractor. In the second picture is the place that bothers me the most. Notice that ugly 'growth' where there are supposed to be interlocking fingers. It would just be easiest to find a new tower and box assembly.
The snow blower is in pretty good shape. I just need the flag if anyone has one to sell.
The deck is a 42" RD. It's pretty rusty underneath, but I don't think it's rusted through. Sand blasting will tell. Will this work on a B80, or is 8hp too small?
One more photo. The rototiller. It needs the seals on the drive pulley and knife shafts. Also, as I said, you can see how worn the knives are. Some of them are worn down to the bend. These knives are welded on, not bolted. The shields are good, though.
I read some where, the rule of thumb for sizing a deck is 4 in per horse. Now if you use the formula most Wheel Horse have to big a deck on them. A 42 in deck is getting a little big, but it will work as long as the grass isnt real ling. You may need a different delt to go in the B80. I tried putting my 36 in deck of my B80 onto a different tractor and the belt off the B80 was to short
