I'm in the same boat for my 1972 Sub. 15, the hood has rubbed most of the gas cap away over the years. Would like a source for the fuel cap with the level gauge in the top also!

Found this, but it's just a metal cap and not sure it will fit the tank in the Suburban:

You could put an electric gas gauge on, Like I did with my Roper!! LOL :trink40:

Yeah I tried getting one for my Super 12, But they said it had to be special ordered. There's not very many tractors that still use the 1 1/2'' filler neck.
I believe all sears steel gas tanks are 5 1/2'' deep. You can still get them, They just don't keep stuff on the shelfs anymore. I see them pop up on ebay once in a while. - Brad

My metal tank needed a cap too. Its 1.5" and i got one from the Tecumseh display at the small engine shop. I dont like the red color, but it holds the gas in.

I purchased the gas cap in the picture for my ST16 with the fuel tank under the hood. I don't know if it will work on a SS16 but it works good on a ST16.
