Finally got one of my 140's going and put her to work right away. It is a 1972 H1 that runs pretty sweet after a lot of adjusting, cleaning, and a tune up. The hood was totally trashed and I bought her in pieces but overall this tractor is very solid, even came with an awesome deck that appears to be almost new. This tractor will be my dedicated yard tug. Adam

nice tractor! Ihave the same one.anyone else notice the 72 h1 were the only 140 made without the cutout in the fender pan for the 3point. also only one brake pedal? rumor say;s deere wanted to use up the leftover 120 parts. anyway it makes these unique

Cementhead, I didn't know that when I picked this tractor up, and at first I didn't know what I had. After some research I discovered exactly what you stated, John Deere did use up available parts from the newly discontinued 120s. I have a 1970 H1 as well but it needs an engine so another future project. Adam
