1970 Mercury Cyclone GT project

This is my project car I’ve been working on for around a year and a half. I bought the car in 1976, it has a 351 Cleveland with a 4 speed. I just bought a new front and rear coil over suspensions for it.

Removed the shock towers and welded in the new cross member a couple weeks ago. Last weekend I welded in the panels that replace the shock towers.

There was a lot of rust everywhere, have gone through a reel of .24 wire in my Mig welder. Today I put the hood and front fenders on it to line them up in preparation for paint.

Here are a few pictures, one is what the car looked like when I was in High School.

I'm in Ellensburg

I only drove it 18 miles last fall before the bad weather hit. I'm now busy rebuilding a trailer to haul a new toy.

I still need to get the bumpers chromed and the headers coated but it's been fun driving this thing. I went to a car show and there were loads of Chevelle's, Camaro's and Mustang's but only one 1970 Mercury Cyclone.

That car is very unique, I doubt you’ll ever see two in the same show. Great looking car!

A long time ago a guy I worked with had a Cale Yarborough edition Cyclone, it was a neat car.

Congratulations, slednut. The trunk interior turned out just as well as the rest of your Cyclone. I'll bet that it received a lot of attention at the show. After putting so much work into it now it"s time to enjoy it!
