What are you going to do for airflow through that paint booth? It's my understanding that it (filtered) helps with both reducing bits of crap & overspray from landing on the paint as it dries.

So far it's just to spray epoxy primer and then put some urethane primer on. It will be filtered and I have a 7700 CFM blower.

I was able to spray three coats of epoxy primer on the car followed by three coats of urethane primer. I sprayed guide coat on all the parts and then sanded it. I ran across a few places that needed fixed. I then added another three coats of urethane and sanded off the guide coat.

I ended up installing a total of 8 filters on the paint booth. Another problem is I had to pull in outside air and it was below freezing. My shop is attached so I would open a window in the back of the house so the shop would stay at 70 degrees.

I'm now putting most of the car together. I've installed the front suspension engine/trans and got the clutch linkage and steering working. I had to put a pretty big dent in one of the header tubes so the steering rod would clear. I'm now installing the wiring and hiding it as much as possible.

Nice work.
Was the Cyclone the Mercury version of the Ford Torino?
The Cyclone had the regular 2dr HT body, where the Torino GT was a different body. Never understood why the Cyclone wasn't built on the GT body, not that the Cyclone didn't have a better looking nose. I always liked the cross hairs in the middle. I had a torino 2dr Ht with a 302 back in the day, but the one I regret selling was a '65 Red with Black interior Cyclone which had good factory paint and not a spot of rust, but the trunk floor had been butchered out by a guy building a pro street car who ran out of ambition. I found a good floor in a junkyard and chiseled it out with a hammer and chisel, and welded it back in and saved the car.
I had almost convinced my wife that I was going to build it for her, but she wanted a Mustang, so it went down the road and I fixed up a '65 fastback for her. I should have just parked it in the back of the garage

instead and let it collect dust.

Following your build. Beautiful car. After college, one of my room mates had a 70 or 71 Torino GT, 429, 4 speed, 430 Detroit Locker, bright orange with the tricolor stripe.. His mother had the exact same car with a 351 auto. It was the same color orange, tri color stripe with shaker. Now, I'm confusing myself. He had the hood off his car and some one pulled into the drive, and ran over it. I know he couldn't get a new hood with the cut outs for the hood locks, and I think he may have gotten a flat hood, can't remember. Those years are clouded by a Schlitz fog.

In the Spring of 1969 I was graduating HS and working at a Mercury Lincoln dealer...one of the salesmen had a Cyclone with 429...automatic ...completely stock..he took it to the track on Sundays and did fairly well with it...the Ford torinos and cobras if I remember had 428s...where did he other cubic inch go?

It was 50 years ago...I remember a discussion with someone in college telling me about a Ford with a 428...I had been familiar with the 429...and I remember a "friendly discussion"...I thought he was wrong about the 428...he showed me the car ..sure enough it was a Ford with a 428...I just could not understand the 1 CID difference...I don't remember clearly the model...I thought that it was a Cobra...I am sure some Ford Fan will know for sure and chime in

I believe the engines were from two different generations / engine families. One was an earlier FE engine, like the 390, and the other was based on the later 365 series like the very common 460 big block Ford. I could be wrong. Ford also made 427’s.

Yep, different families of FoMoCo products. A friend of mine wanted a 428 in a new mustang he was ordering. The dealer told him it was too late, the new models were out, and they had 429's. Back then dealers would do anything to please a customer and make a sale. He contacted Fords racing division. The racing season was over and the factory drivers had to return or destroy any extra engines. They found an engine being returned and put it in a Mustang for him. They also gave him all of the documents and dyno sheets with it. He sold it at one of the big auctions a few years ago and got mega dollars for it because of the paper work to document the build of the car. Just did a Wiki search and it says the 429 replaced the FE 390, 427 and 428.

Factory's do weird things for different reasons. Buick came out with a 401 in the large cars, but GM had a directive, that no engines over 400 CI could be put in the mid size cars. So, they just called the 401 a 400 to meet GM's guide lines. I had a 64 Riviera with a Factory 425 with 2 Carter AFB 4 barrel carburetors. On the giant air cleaner, It said "Super Wildcat 465". To make the engine sound bigger, the listed it by it's foot pounds of torque, 465 instead of it's cubic inch, 425.

So over the last few months I've installed the rear 4- link suspension, brake booster/master cylinder and lines, wiring, doors, hood, trunk lid, built a battery box, and got the car together enough that today I started the engine and did a cam break in. I then took it for a short drive (with open headers) to make sure all worked fine. I'm now going to take it apart fill all the unused holes and put the paint booth up so I can get this thing painted. I had to cut a pretty big hole in the trunk for the 4 link and decided to make a removable panel to cover the hole.

How did it drive? How did the engine run?

The suspension work came out great, looking forward to seeing it in paint. Awesome job!
