1967? Rer

Hey everybody!

First off, I'm new to the forums so I can't garuntee I'm doing any of this right...but absolutely any help is appreciated.

At the end of last season, I purchased a 1960's (i believe it was a 1967) Snapper Comet Hi-Vac. It has a 28" deck, 6 HP Tecumseh, handle bars of course:thThumbsU and the slim rear tires which is what leads me to believe it is a '67. Now here's the problem, I located the serial number on the engine (which was panted over at least twice) but there are absolutely no records online or in my retail stores. Also, the model #/serial # on the body are no help at all. The engine wasn't running when I bought it but I got it running with a carb rebuild. The problem is that the muffler has rusted out and sounds like a piston banging against a cooking pot.

I have looked everywhere possible to find a manual for this engine, or at least a muffler that will fit it. The current one just comes off the engine and blows directly toward the shifter and/or the bagger if it is attached. Any info. on this engine or a link to the manual would be greatly appreciated =]

Also, any recommendations on where to find a muffler?

Edit: This is a RER

Does the pipe screw into the eng.or bolted with a flange? If it's tapped, and most are, once the old one is removed, you could just screw a pipe nipple in attach muffer to it.That way you can route it where ever.
As stated in my first post, Snapper does not have any recognition of this model.

I'll check just to be sure, but I believe the muffler is screwed right into the engine.
anybody else with some input?

I basically just need a muffler for a 6 HP Tecumseh on a Snapper RER.
I doubt it's that old if it has bicycle handle bars. The rear skinny tires came on the 26" decks. Never seen them on a 28. I bet yours is actually a late 70's early 80's. Pictures would help. The model number should be below the seat on the side of the battery tray. As you are sitting on it left side. The older models had a hoop style steering wheel. Did I say pictures help a lot? The website posted earlier should have the manual for you. Any snapper dealer should have the part for you as well. They are about 20 bucks if I remember right.
