1963 John Deere 110

Hello Everyone,
This is Ted from Edmonton, Alberta.
I have a chance to buy 1963 JD 110 with a mover deck and snow blower for $850CAD (is it priced right?). I wonder if someone could tell me about the value of this little tractor. How does it compare with other tractors in the small tractors class (7, 8 HP). Is there anything special technically about it, that makes it worthy buying. Maybe how does it compare with bolens, simplicity, cub cadet or other ones that accept snow blower?

I would use it for small snow moving jobs on my small city lot and maybe some of my neighbours.
I know there were few produced so I do not want to pass an opportunity if this was really good catch.
I have a photo but I do not know how to post it.

It looks to me that the blower is missing the mount that hooks to the tractor.

Yes. After many trials to attach the blower I have concluded there must be some part missing. Hopefully some photos will solve this puzzle.

I hate to break the bad news, but you're missing the entire mounting bracket. Here's a shot of the back side of one:

You're missing everything that's painted green. It normally stays on the blower. You should check with the guy you got the blower from to see if he's still got it. The extra spring is the helper spring, it mounts underneath the tractor. It's only used for manual lift, H models don't need it.

FYI when you get the bracket, you'll need to remove the mower clutch from the tractor (the extra pulleys by the motor). It's held on by several clevis pins, pretty easy to remove. You'll also need to remove the draft plate from the front of the frame - it should stay attached to the mower deck.

Darn... That is not a good news indeed. It seems to me the guy who sold me this stuff knew exactly what he was doing and he did not tell me it was missing some parts. I will ask him again and I will send him this photo. But...
Well. I wonder what are the chances of finding the missing piece for sale?

You would be more likely to find the blower in bad shape and get it for the parts! Likely the mounting bracket would still be good!

It seems that this is not all that usual.
I bought a 112 with the tiller drive pulley set missing. :banghead3

There's been more than a few posts here from folks who have bought stuff without all the bits, particlularly with 100 series snowblowers missing the mule drive. I got lucky when I bought mine from an honest seller who not only included the mule drive but ballast weights too but if he hadn't I'd have never known because that was before I found MTF.

Ted,

Glad the photo helped. If you're lucky, maybe the guy still has it and just forgot that he had detached it from the blower for whatever reason. I can't recall ever seeing the brackets for sale separately, but as PA318Guy mentioned you might be able to find a rusted-out blower that still has the brackets. Wouldn't hurt to post a WANTED item on Craigslist. Good luck finding your parts!

Before he had my cash in his hands he also said he used this set for moving snow every winter... and still did not want to explain how he mounted the pieces together.
Well. I need to start lookin for the bracket.

Chris Sawyer has a #36 brass tag snow blower on the WFM classifieds for $300.

Doesn't state if the bracket's included, nor if if he'd ship it though.

I am a happy camper now. I have found the missing bracket.
On ebay. The seller was kind enough and allowed to separate his snow blower with the mounting bracket and he sold it to me.

Thank you for all help and all the best to you all.
Can not wait to see how this rig will work this Winter.

Glad you got it all put together! I used mine for years until I got a blower for my 200 series. It did the trick but be patient, and also learn how to adjust the chain on that snowblower you're going to be doing it occassionally while snowblowing so keep the wrenches handy for it.

Been looking at the different 110's here and notice the grille and fuel tank is Green,my 74 110 is Black,what year did they change or is mine supposed to be Green>
