Hello Everyone,
This is Ted from Edmonton, Alberta.
I have a chance to buy 1963 JD 110 with a mover deck and snow blower for $850CAD (is it priced right?). I wonder if someone could tell me about the value of this little tractor. How does it compare with other tractors in the small tractors class (7, 8 HP). Is there anything special technically about it, that makes it worthy buying. Maybe how does it compare with bolens, simplicity, cub cadet or other ones that accept snow blower?

I would use it for small snow moving jobs on my small city lot and maybe some of my neighbours.
I know there were few produced so I do not want to pass an opportunity if this was really good catch.
I have a photo but I do not know how to post it.

Thanx.

Ted

I believe the '63 110 is the very first garden tractor form JD, so they are VERY collectible, but Im a newbie so Ill let others chime in.

I sent youi a PM on how to post a picture
1963 was the first year of production foe the 110 the best thing I can tell you is check out this site on the 110 http://weekendfreedommachines.org/info/index.php The 110 can take a snow blower,42inch front Blade, Belt driven PTO tiller & a integral hitch(sleeve hitch) for pulling a plow, cutivator or disks. There great Little Garden tractors. I would love to have one myself.:thThumbsU
You need to check if it is a true 1963. It should have fiberglass fenders three speed transmission and three lug rear hubs. Check the serial number, or post it here and we will rell you if it is a legitimate 63. If this is from the original owner of family any documentation they have is important, you want anything they have associated with this tractor! If it is all there, running and in resorable condition, it is worth at least $1500. I have seen these go as high as $3500 restored. John Deere made only 1000 1963 110's If it is real buy it and sell it to a collector for profit, or restore it enjoy your investment. My 2 cents, Adam
If it is a 1963 complete and working buy it! If it's in good shape you should be able to sell it for $2,500 - $3,000 There is a guy on ebay with one with an 80 brass tag cart trying to get $5,000 for it.
A true '63 has:
- 7hp Kohler
- fiberglass fenders
- 3 speed
- 3-bold rear hubs
-FABRICATED DECK (made of different pieces of steel welded together. Will be kind of angular) vs. the rounded stamped deck (on piece of steel) of the 64-up.
- Serial number will be below 3,500 (I believe)

To really be worth anything, you'll need to see all of the above...although finding a 8hp engine in place of the 7hp probably wouldn't be horrible.
from what ive seen those 63's restored are worth way more than 850 so id jump on that deal if i was u

It may be burning oil and need other repairs, just because its old doesn't always mean its worth a lot of money. Some of these older motors are hard to overhaul, and also get parts.

Just from looking at the pic I don't think it's a 1963. The shifter cover looks to be from a later model. The deck is from a later model. slkpk
:ditto:5 bolts in rear hub too.
Here is a link to the best documentation I have seen on a 1963 John Deere 110. This provides differences between the 63 & 64 models. I think that one of the easiest ways to tell a 63 is by the tube style front axle. 1964 on had cast axles.

So. I asked the seller for more info, including serial number.
He said that the emgine does not smoke. He uses the tractor regularly for snow moving every winter.

And that t is actually a 1964 model. He put 1963 by mistake.
The serial number is: A 18250.
The tractor was purchased in US and brought to Canada.

Is it still worth $850CAD?

I looked at that thread - it's awesome! Thanks for the link. But...you can't use the front axle alone. I have an early '64 (SN 4,600) that has the fabricated steel front axle like the '63's have.

If you want to see changes...you'd be amazed at how much heavier duty my '65 is than my '64. There are changes on dang near every major component.

It might be, you could try to get some clear pictures and post on here, but the longer you wait the better chance of him selling it.
