This one is a diesel and have changed the fuel filter and cleaned and bled everything, new battery etc but refuses to start without being bump started or a little shot of either, which I hate to use on an engine, - once started she runs like a charm, kinda stumped on this one, just wondering if it maybe the injector pump is at fault or timing is out????? (Simms pump)

Im not sure if this helps but my power major has a cold start button on the injector pump. Mine wont start in the cold without it. Mine like ether to start also.

My older brother had a 1960 Fordson Major diesel with a loader and backhoe--it was balky at starting, had to use starting fluid almost every time,or you'd kill the battery--he found out the injector pump timing was retarded quite a bit--timing it right helped it start a lot better, but engine was tired and smoking,so he rebuilt it..it fired up instantly after it was rebuilt and he sold it shortly after that for 10 times what he paid for it!..
