Loaned my tiller to brother, first mistake. Returned with broken tiller hub, part #1727907. Have tried finding the part online with no success, can't seem to find any dealer with part for this do to age, 1973 tractor and tiller. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is it broke badly ?? mabye you can weld it if it isnt too bad. where did it break?
Picture???:wwp:
broken in 4 places, can't be welded
That is not easy to do. What did he hit? A steel post or something buried in the ground?
backed it off the trailer and rammed the tiller into the pavement
I'd rather loan my stuff to total strangers than to relatives.
Somehow relatives always destroy things.

Sooo, I think you ought to dismantle that tiller, and box up the usable parts, and send them to me for spares.
:)
Wow bummer on the tiller. Good luck finding your parts :goodl:

Well that's an option, but I was hoping someone on this board had a box of old tiller parts with the part I need. I have contacted all the recommended parts places and still can't find the part. Maybe someone will read this and be able to help. Thanks everyone for your input.
One more Old bolens dealer with lots of parts, might be worth a phone call if you have not tried them :goodl:

In case someone has not seen this post I am still looking for my tiller part. Thanks everyone for your input.
Bill,

I have to tell you that in the several years that I have been acquiring Bolens Large Frames and attachments, I have never seen the gear case come up for sale. Not to say it could not, but even the tillers themselves do not come up for sale all that often. Your only option might be to find another tiller, and have one for spare parts.

Doug
I have come across exactly two large frame tillers for sale in all my wanderings, and I am kicking myself for only buying one of them. Fortunately for me, the one I did buy is in like new condition, with one extension on it. The one I passed on was one of those 48" monsters, but a bit tired. I am considering picking up the next one I see to keep for spare parts.
It's not the gear case that is broken. It is the hub the tines attach to. Part #25 on drawing (attached I hope).

I have a tube frame tiller that I use for parts for my large frame tillers (I have two, one of which is in excellent shape). For the most part, the parts seem interchangeable. Also, I have looked at the mounts and it seems like the gearbox is the same, like you could just change the mounts and it would work. Don't know for sure though.

Sorry. I misunderstood what your brother broke. Haven't seen that part listed for sale either.
