1977 1614, motor starts and idles great then soon as it warms up idle drops drasticly and it pops a bit through exhuast and acts like it wants to stall. when i give it 3/4 throttle it doesnt sound bad but u can still here a exhaust pop here and there. im not a mechanic by have some experience, im hoping its not a bad valve? what do you guys think.

I'd check the points, plug condition, and clean the carb good then set it to factory specs. That's what mine did when I first got it. Turned out to be a bad spark plug. Then I found a pin hole in the float.

Go to the kohler web site and it has all of the kohler manuals. You should find carb adjustments there.

does your engine have the triggerless ignition or points and condenser?
Your problem sounds alot like mine before I switched to points.[/QUOTE

i'd imagine it has points, but yesterday i did change plug and spray carb cleaner fairly liberally in the carb and it seems to be better, i certainly hope that fixed it. now i need to fix a couple oil leaks in rearend if i can find new seals? and i need a couple mower deck parts.
