140 newspaper find

6615 Views 48 Replies 19 Participants Last post by  Glockem
I have found a 140 with a deck and front blade in my local paper today. Called the guy and he says it was his fathers. The tranny leaks a little but not bad enough to drop the tranny to replace the seal. Has the operator and service manuals. He says it does not smoke but it is from the '70s. Everything works but bought his mom a new tractor, something easier for her to run. Said he is asking $400.00. Can't see it until 5 pm.
What do the experts say?

See thread down this page. "140H3 price check?"
The blade could be worth that
Me says go get it. Is this the one in Parkersburg or Weston?
Newbie, without looking at it you should be able to part it out for more than that! If it is close to you I'd take the truck/trailer that can load it and go see it with the money in the wallet!
I most certainly will go get it today... I am in Parkersburg. I go through Weston all the time if there is something you want me to look at???
I was about to say get moving, but I see that you are. So, with that said, we want pictures.

As others said, the blade is $450 if it's hydraulic angle.

You better hurry too. Last month Glockem bought a new diesel pickup to haul home these beauties.

This month he's decided to get a little more aggressive in his hunts.

Sounds like a decent find Newbie, good luck :fing32:.
My wife doesn't quite see the benefit of getting another JD. She said she will leave me if I do... Darn, I'm gonna miss that woman LOL. Pics will follow as long as I can outrun the helo

The Tractor Hunter has decided to employ the advantage of the aerial ambush on his prey! In this manner he may bag and tag them before the effects of the "Wad of Cash" dart dissipate!

I see those near my house from time to time, now I know why all the Deere's disappear from Craig's list within a few hours...gettin' snaked by 'copter!

Imagine if we could all pool some cash and pay for that thing to fly around and pick up tractors for us. I spy some really nice ones every so often that're clear across the country. Call them up: "I'm in Oregon, I'll be there in a couple of hours for the tractor, will you hold it for me and where's the nearest open area by your house?"
Glockem, Where did you spot a 140 in Weston? I am nearing the time to look at the 140 in my area. Gassing up the truck and driving down the road. Hope all goes well.

Yes, do not pass Go, do not collect $200, get $400 and go pick that bad boy up as soon as possible.

I just meant that I know of one in Weston and one in Parkersburg. I would never snipe a tractor out from under someone as that isn't cool. I work hard when I see something I like and make sure I am the first to contact the seller. otherwise I don't really care. This guy said he found one, and I would never do that, so go get it. Pics better be forthcoming.

Darn you D, stop telling all my secrets.:fing20:

Don't get your panties in a bunch !?!?!?
Well I am the proud owner of a 140 H3... Mechanically it seems very solid, everythings seems to function as it should. There is a small leak from the rear end but very slight. What it needs is a head light, taillight and to repair the hood. The paint is faded and I need a seat... The deck and front blade work great. I also have the owners manual for the tractor, plow blade, a series 80 dump cart and deck. There is also service manual for 140 series greater than 30000??? When I drove the tractor around the garage I spied the 80 dump cart. The cart is rusty but it was purchased at the same time. He did not want to sell the rusty old cart but I will go back and inquire in about a month. It is raining like heck outside so pictures will come tomorrow. BTW I never thought in a minute that anyone would snipe me. I was just offering to look at the 140 in Weston if you needed someone to.:drunkie:
:wwp: Can't tell from your post; did you get the Model 80 cart or not?
Congrats Newbie looking forward to the pics and ditto on the rain, I'm only 35 minutes north of you and it's been hammering us, but defintley needed :fing32:.
We all know that Glockem wouldn't do that. He's a man on a mission and that leaves him open to ribbing him about it! It is all in good fun and he shoots back when he sees an opening!
If it's Glockem's Chopper it's probably missing the emblem !!
